Position Summary:

College of Western Idaho (CWI)'s web team is seeking a detail-oriented Copywriter/Editor Intern to assist in reviewing and editing content for our external website, cwi.edu, as we upgrade our web platform. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in marketing, communications, journalism, or related fields to gain hands-on experience in web content strategy and management.

 

Essential Functions:

Review, edit, and refine website content to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with CWI’s brand voice and writing style guidelines.
Proofread and correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting issues.
Assist in restructuring and optimizing content for improved readability and user experience.
Collaborate with members of the web team to ensure content and page updates reflect institutional priorities and audience needs.
Support content migration efforts by verifying accuracy and functionality of web pages.
Perform other editorial and content-related tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current or recent college student pursuing a degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency across various communication channels.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, as well as independently.
Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of accountability and follow-through.
Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks or projects under deadlines.
Open to feedback and committed to learning and improving.
Experience with content management systems (CMS) is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with web content best practices related to user experience (UX), accessibility, and search engine optimization (SEO) is beneficial.

Additional Instructions for Applicants:

Internship Details
Location: College of Western Idaho, Nampa Campus Administration Building
Duration: Summer/Fall 2025
Hours: 19 hours per week, flexible hours between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday
Compensation: Paid internship (rate dependent on experience and qualifications)
