The Department of Music at Northern Michigan University seeks a one-year term faculty full time, 9-month, specializing in vocal instruction. Opportunity to collaborate with other faculty on curriculum development and creative projects. This position will start August, 2024. This is a campus based position. Duties each semester include a 12-credit hour teaching load per semester, baseline scholarship and service. The ideal candidate will teach applied voice and voice-related courses, which may include diction and class voice. Candidates will work to recruit, develop, and retain high-quality students and engage in meaningful creative and professional activity. The teaching assignment will be dependent upon the successful candidate's qualifications and interests and the needs of the Music Department. |

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: |
-Master's Degree in Vocal Performance and/or Vocal Pedagogy. -Successful experience in college-level teaching and research. -Demonstrated professional excellence in vocal performance in solo and/or chamber settings. -Strong vocal pedagogy background. |
Required Minimum Work Experience: |
-Five years of private adult voice instruction. -Two years of college-level teaching (full-time teaching preferred, but graduate assistantships will be credited toward college-level experience). |

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility. -Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. This could include experience using inclusive teaching practices; research relating to minoritized populations or social inequality; community-based outreach to minoritized and underserved communities; and other forms of DEI-infused teaching, scholarship, and/or service. |

-Doctorate in Vocal Performance or Vocal Pedagogy (ABD will be strongly considered) -Demonstrated ability to recruit vocal students for an undergraduate program. -Potential for success in research and professional development, and service. |
