Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties: Develop and teach undergraduate courses for the Electrical Line Technician Program. Course topics that will be taught include (but are not limited to): Fundamentals of Electricity, Electrical Formulas, Line Electrician Field Practice, Applied Electricity for Lineperson, Electrical Line Safety, and Construction Standards.
Additional responsibilities include assessment of student learning outcomes, student advising, committee assignments, course development, professional development, application of laptop computers in the learning environment, service to the department and university with selective program leadership responsibilities, participation in extra-curricular service opportunities, program of scholarship, and perform other assignments per departmental needs. This is a campus-based position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Discipline / Degree Area: Electrical Engineering Technology or related discipline
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  
Required Minimum Work Experience: Five years of full-time equivalent work experience in an area related to electrical power generation or distribution.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: -Thorough knowledge of electric distribution and transmission work procedures and safety rules, electric distribution standards, applicable state electric codes and statutes, and underground facilities and their purpose.
-Strong understanding of electrical theory and ability to analyze and troubleshoot electric circuits.
-Electrical and mechanical aptitude.
-Ability to lead, instruct, and educate with the capacity to manage for successful workforce development outcomes.
-Diplomatic, cooperative, and able to work well with students, other instructors, and the public.
-Ability to incorporate application of laptop computers in the learning environment.
-Good oral and written communication skills.
-Effective interpersonal skills.
-Good time management skills.
-Ability to participate in budget discussions and make recommendations to administration and program partners.

Additional Desirable Qualifications: -Collegiate teaching and/or industry training experience.
-Community and/or civic leadership within area of expertise.
-Professional credentials, licenses and certifications.
-Professional affiliations associated to the line tech profession.
-Ability to operate all types of electrical tools and equipment and to drive large trucks.
-Ability to perform occasional heavy lifting and/or carrying of 50 to 100 lbs. and frequent lifting and/or carrying of up to 50 lbs.
-Ability to see at 20 feet or more, with depth perception and field of vision.
-Ability to work aloft various poles, towers, aerial lifts, scaffolds, ladders, buildings or other structures for sustained periods.
