Position Title: Financial Analyst or Senior Financial Analyst

Department:  Finance And Planning

Term of Assignment: continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm with occasional evening or weekend work required.

One position is available with the potential to be filled at any of the listed levels consistent with the selected applicant's experience. Levels include: Financial Analyst or Senior Financial Analyst.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: Financial Analyst: $49,120-$55,260 Senior Financial Analyst: $58,720-$66,000

Travel: Less than 10%

 

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Financial Analyst:
Prepare financial analyses and reports related to revenues, expenditures, and performance outcomes. Maintain University financial and enrollment models for on-going review of University financial status. Assist the Assistant Vice President-Budget & Finance with University budget planning processes. Provide consultation to departments regarding budget, finance, and human resources administrative systems related issues.

Senior Financial Analyst:
Prepare financial analyses and reports related to revenues, expenditures, and performance outcomes. Develop and maintain University financial and enrollment models for on-going review of University financial status. Assist the Assistant Vice President-Budget & Finance with University budget planning processes. Provide consultation to departments regarding budget, finance, and human resource administrative systems related issues.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Degree Area:  Finance or related field or equivalent work experience in finance/accounting positions

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: 

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Financial Analyst and Senior Financial Analyst:
Experience working with enterprise financial systems.

Financial Analyst:
Two years of experience in finance, financial planning and analysis, budgeting and fiscal reporting at a higher education institution or a medium or large corporation.

Senior Financial Analyst:
Five years of progressive experience in finance, financial planning and analysis, budgeting and fiscal reporting at a higher education institution or a medium or large corporation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Financial Analyst and Senior Financial Analyst:
Demonstrated knowledge of financial planning and analyses, budgeting, fiscal reporting and current accounting principles.
Ability to create effective data presentations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Possess accuracy, attention to detail and good planning and organization skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all levels of staff and management.

Financial Analyst:
Proficiency in developing analytical reports.
Proficiency using and leveraging technology, including utilizing database query tools and extracting data from large databases.
Data visualization and analytical skills.

Senior Financial Analyst:
Proficiency in functional cost analysis and developing analytical reports.
High level of proficiency using and leveraging technology, including utilizing database query tools and extracting data from large databases.
Strong data visualization and analytical skills.

 

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Financial Analyst and Senior Financial Analyst:
Master's Degree in relevant field or CPA.
Experience working in a finance/accounting position for a college/university.
Audit experience.
