| Summary of Position: |
The Social Work Department seeks applications for semester-by semester instructors to teach across both the BSW and MSW curriculum, on an as needed basis.
Teaching opportunities will be on the Big Rapids and/or Traverse City campus.
This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis.
This posting is used for face-to-face instruction. Courses are to be taught in person on one on Ferris State University’s campuses. The successful candidate(s) will teach a range of undergraduate social work courses, including interviewing skills, macro practice, child welfare, and field education. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.
The start date of this position is August 2026 and/or January 2027 at the latest. |

Candidate must have a Masters in Social Work (MSW) earned from an accredited CSWE program. |

| Required Work Experience: |
At least two years of post-MSW social work practice. The successful candidate must demonstrate the potential for higher education teaching excellence and the ability to work effectively with both the faculty and students. |

| Required Licenses and Certifications: |
Applicants must have a Michigan Social Work Licensure upon appointment. |

Evidence of two or more years of teaching experience in social work preferred. |

| Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Teaching across both the BSW and MSW curriculum.
Teaching opportunities will be on the Big Rapids and/or Traverse City campus.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching and the ability to work effectively with both faculty colleagues and a diverse student body.
Teach classes in face-to-face, online, remote synchronous delivery, and mixed delivery modes. Post and keep regular office hours. Administer student course evaluations for every course, every semester.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are limited to: keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |

Participation in meetings and committees in the department and the College of Arts, Sciences and Education is welcomed, but not required. |
