Job Summary
|
The Athletic Facility Specialist performs basic maintenance and operation of the Houston Field House building, ice rink and connected parking areas.
|
Minimum Qualifications
|
• High school diploma or equivalent • Valid US driver’s license
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
|

• Basic construction background

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
|
- Requires good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with the public
- Basic knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, and materials normally used in maintenance and changeover activities in the custodial and sports facility trades.
- Ability to operate Zamboni machine and forklift.
- Knowledge of Freon risks and issues of sports facility
- Ability to perform semiskilled tasks independently
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, to operate tools and equipment used IN stadium and auditorium type facilities work
- Ability to function independently or as part of a team
- Ability to work under strict time constraints
- Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and personnel lifts

Job Duties
|
- Perform basic repairs and maintenance of the Houston Field House, including basic cleanup work.
- Assist with ice making operations; maintaining ice; repair damaged ice.
- Drive Zamboni ice resurfacer with a high degree of skill, using the tandem machine pattern; perform limited Zamboni maintenance or report problems to supervisor.
- Clean locker rooms after use; check for and repair or report damage in locker rooms; clear lockers.
- Assist with auditorium-type maintenance and changeover activities including setting up and taking down ice surface, dasher boards, rink shielding, portable chairs, bleachers, barricades, staging, tables and other special equipment for each schedule activity in the Field House.
- Assist skilled craft workers in repair and maintenance of Field House, structures, and assigned grounds.
- Open Field House for events; allow access for vendors prior to events.
- Respond to emergencies, as needed, outside of normal working hours.
- Participate in snow removal as required, including plowing, shoveling and salting sidewalk and steps.

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range: $17.50 - $18.25 per hour
