Job Summary
|
Rensselaer at Work, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s digitally delivered professional graduate programs for working professionals and their employers, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position for an instructional faculty member to teach in a graduate business program. This role requires a blend of practical experience, leadership, and mentorship skills, along with a passion for people and a high emotional intelligence.
Candidates must have significant leadership experience in the areas of business strategies, new ventures, and market analysis both within existing organizations and for startups. The position begins July 7 2025. The initial appointment is for two years and may be renewed, contingent upon funding, performance, and the needs of the program.
The successful candidate will be an active practitioner with experience leading ventures that have gone on to become profitable and sustainable. Leadership experience in new ventures could take many forms such as leading startups, leading innovative projects within an existing company to launch new products or services or creating “spin-off” companies. Those with experience across multiple types of new ventures are preferred. Lastly, experience mentoring others in the development of identifying market opportunities, proposing solutions, and developing business plans built on a sound and quantifiable strategy is essential.
The incumbent will assist in developing, leading, and teaching project-based courses over the full calendar year in a digitally delivered, mentored, and doing-focused learning framework to give students a personalized experience building their own business plans. Teaching responsibilities will be at the graduate level, and it is expected that the incumbent will continue their professional activities and commitments in the field.
In addition to academic/professional qualification, Rensselaer at Work believes that “doing” leads to deepened learning and engagement for working professionals and seeks faculty members who attitudinally believe that mentorship is an important part of the teaching/learning process. Candidates should have a JD, EdD, DBA or PhD in a field related to economics, strategy, or business and 10-15 years of substantive professional/academic experience in the described fields. Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the collegiate level is preferred. Appointment will be made as Professor of Practice.

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range: $100,000 - $122,290 per 9-month academic year
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
