Purpose of the Position:

The Academic Advisor will serve as an advisor for the College of Business undergraduate students, providing comprehensive academic advising to new, continuing, and returning undergraduate students.

Duties/Responsibilities
Core Function: Serve as an expert regarding degree programs within the College of Business (COB)
• Provide comprehensive academic advising to new, continuing and returning undergraduate students, including creating academic plans to ensure degree completion.
• Conversant with Charger Foundations and assist students to ensure they apply transfer credits, AP credits, and placement exams to the student's greatest advantage
• Provide feedback to COB administration regarding curricular matters and the student experience.
Core Function: Possesses current knowledge of and help facilitate co-curricular activities
• Assist by providing information to students regarding COB clubs, events, and programs
• Assist by providing resources for students seeking internships, mentoring, and graduate study
Core Function: Utilize technology and data analytics effectively
• Utilize various software applications (Banner, Google, CAPP, Slate, Degree Works, ect.)
• Produce reports (on student progress to degree, retention, ect.) to advise students, assist faculty, and improve advising outcomes.

Core Function: Serve non-enrolled and potential students
• Advise prospective students on potential courses and plans of study.
• Participate in outreach events supporting the College of Business and the Office of Admissions

Core Function: Serve students' needs in order to promote student success, retention, and persistence
• Actively contact students who are not registered.
• Engage and support at-risk and non-traditional students in order to promote student success and persistence.
• Communicate campus resources to advisees.
• Assist with exploratory advising to facilitate movement between colleges when a student changes majors.
• Display sensitivity in addressing the unique and sometimes complex learning and socio-economic needs of students
• Provide individualized service, assistance, and follow up to students
• Identify barriers to registration and help to provide solutions/suggestions to overcome those barriers
Core Function: Create, revise, and present student policies, resources, and guides
• Assist with and present at orientations.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• 0 - 2 years of full-time verifiable academic advising work experience
• Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and the ability to utilize the google drive file system
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must possess the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree or equivalent is preferred
• Experience in higher education academic advising or enrollment services is desired
• Proficiency with university software systems such as Banner, Degree Works, and/or Slate is preferred

Published Salary (if available):

$40,000-$44,000
