| Purpose of the Position: |
The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst supports the university’s mission by transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive student success, operational excellence, and informed strategic decisions. This position works collaboratively across campus to translate business needs into technical solutions, enhance enterprise systems such as Ellucian Banner, and promote a culture of data-informed decision-making throughout the institution.
Duties / Responsibilities:
Operational Support and System Maintenance • Maintain and support existing software applications, programs, and enterprise systems. • Ability to develop and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for data from diverse sources. • Develop and distribute ad hoc reports and scheduled production output. • Document system development activities, including logic, coding, testing, and modifications. • Troubleshoot application errors and revise programs to ensure accuracy and reliability. • Resolve end-user issues through clear written and verbal communication. • Automate recurring processes and implement electronic workflows to improve efficiency. • Follow established security measures for system access, file creation, and data transfer. • Support departmental business processes and assist functional users with application usage. • Maintain a strong understanding of ERP architecture and integration points. • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with internal peers and colleagues at other institutions.
Project Management and Development • Design and develop programs, reports, and data objects to meet user and business requirements. • Consult with end users to gather specifications for program functionality, data inputs, and outputs. • Create and execute test plans to validate application performance and data integrity. • Work closely with Project teams performing system design, development, and data structure optimization. • Work independently to address critical issues and deliver timely solutions. • Provide project updates, meet deadlines, and support implementation efforts. • Act as a contributing member of project teams by participating in discovery sessions and providing input on policies, procedures, and recommendations.
Professional Development • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies, including relational databases, operating systems, programming languages, and ERP systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner). • Learn and implement new software features and updates as they become available. • Develop and maintain end-user documentation and provide training as needed. • Stay informed of emerging trends, tools, and best practices in business intelligence and higher education technology.
Other Duties as Assigned • Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned to support institutional goals and department operations.

| Minimum Requirements: |
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent program, plus 3 or more years of relevant technical work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience with enterprise, database-driven applications and technologies. • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and SQL programming. • Strong understanding of systems analysis, design, and the software development lifecycle. • Ability to develop and document complex business systems and workflows. • Proficiency in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and structured project execution. • Must have strong communication skills. • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

| Desired Qualifications: |
• Knowledge of Ellucian Banner ERP (functional and technical) is preferred. • Experience with data mapping and API/web services integration (e.g., Slate, CRM, SIS) is desired. • Experience developing in a Linux/Oracle environment is desired. • Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Argos is desired. • Experience with SIS, CRM, or LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard) is desired. • Understanding of data governance and compliance frameworks (e.g., IPEDS, FERPA) is desired. • Familiarity with Git, Subversion, or other version control systems is desired. • Experience in higher education or nonprofit environments is desired.
