As a Data Engineer at HBF, you’ll play a key role in designing, building, and optimising robust data pipelines both on-premises and in our new cloud environment. You will directly enable AI-driven analytics and machine learning, helping us deliver timely, actionable data products that make a real impact for our members.

Please note that this position is a 12 month fixed-term contract.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, scalable data pipeline architectures.
  • Assemble and process large, complex datasets that meet diverse business needs.
  • Drive automation and improve data delivery through process enhancements.
  • Build infrastructure for ETL/ELT workflows using Snowflake, dbt, and AWS services.
  • Develop analytical tools and dashboards that translate data into actionable insights.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to solve data challenges and support infrastructure requirements.
  • Ensure the security, privacy, and integrity of our data environments.
  • Support data operations and analytics teams across various projects.

About you
You’re a passionate, experienced Data Engineer with a knack for turning complex data challenges into streamlined, automated solutions.

With a solid foundation in software engineering or computer science, you excel at both cloud and on-premise data solutions. Your advanced SQL skills and expertise in cloud platforms like AWS empower you to optimise data flows and warehouse performance.

A natural problem-solver and team player, you thrive in agile environments and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams. You will also have;

  • Proven experience working within high-performing, agile teams using DevOps practices
  • Advanced SQL skills with expertise in query tuning and performance optimisation
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS), Snowflake, dbt, and Python
  • Knowledge and experience in data modelling, schema design, and data management principles.
