Are you an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in delivering complex IT and business transformation projects? Do you excel in managing both internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes?

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Project Manager to join AMSA, where you will play a critical role in overseeing projects that enhance our organisational capabilities and support our mission of maritime safety.

Reporting to the Head of Programs Infrastructure, Operations and Cybersecurity, the Project Manager will be responsible for management of an assigned project or group of projects with significant and strategic importance to the delivery of AMSA’s forward Program of Work. The Project Manager’s prime responsibility is producing a result from the project that is capable of achieving the benefits outlined for each project. The Project Manager also ensures that the project’s outcomes develop the organisational capability required by the project therefore is an emphasis on working with key stakeholders and ensuring dependencies and strategic risk are adequately addressed.

The purpose of this role is to deliver a number of key ITS projects from within the ITS program of work. Other work from within the AMSA portfolio can be assigned to this position based on approval of funding, capacity to deliver and experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Project Manager at AMSA, you will report to the Program Manager and be responsible for managing a portfolio of high-impact projects. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will be responsible for:

  • Project Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive project management documentation.
  • Governance and Assurance: Oversee project governance, risk management, and assurance processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead and motivate project teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • Budget Management: Track and report on project budgets and resource utilisation.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet the required standards and facilitate smooth handover to business owners.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with significant experience in project management, particularly in IT, business transformation, or regulatory modernisation.

Education: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or related fields.
  • Accreditation in PRINCE2, PMI, or other recognised project management methodologies is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Strong Leadership and Team Management Abilities: Capable of leading multidisciplinary teams and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking Skills: Able to navigate complex project challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Contract Acumen: Experience in managing contracts with external vendors and suppliers, including negotiation, contract execution, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • In-Depth Knowledge of Project Management Tools and Methodologies: Particularly in IT environments, with the ability to apply best practices and optimize project delivery.
  • Advanced Stakeholder Management: Skilled in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and expectation management.

You will need extensive experience in technical areas of the following areas:

  • Leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Managing complex project dependencies and risks.
  • Delivering projects within strict timelines and budgets.
