Laboratory Organic Chemist I

Join an outstanding environmental laboratory team that operates in a high-production facility that receives water quality samples from across the state. As part of the LCRA laboratory, this role is suited for those who enjoy working in a laboratory setting and collaborating in a team environment, including individual assigned duties. You will perform a variety of analytical tests, including Cyanotoxin testing using ADDA ELISA techniques, Carbamate pesticide analysis using HPLC, and Organic analysis using GC and GC-MS. You will work directly with the organic team daily, communicate any sample or production issues to senior staff and the supervisor, and at times cross-train and provide support in other areas of the laboratory. You will be primarily working on independent tasks and performing a variety of duties every day, and attention to detail is critical. This role is an integral part of the laboratory operations and LCRA’s mission, “To enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve through water stewardship, energy, and community service”.

You will be trusted to:

- Prepare analytical reagents and solutions
- Prepare analytical calibration standards
- Perform sample preparation/analysis for various EPA and standard method methodology.
- Create/Load analytical sample results into a Laboratory Information Management System
- Perform analysis using GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and UPLC-MSMS.

You qualify with:

- A High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Experience in performing analytical preparation and/or analysis of samples in a laboratory setting

You are a great fit with:

- A Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental science, physical sciences, or engineering with 12 or more college semester credit hours in chemistry, or two or more years of experience as an analyst (or equivalent position) in a laboratory.
