**This is a hybrid position requiring two days a week in office in Austin, TX.

LCRA’s Surveying, GIS and Technical Services department is in search of a motivated Cartographer Sr. to join our GIS Products and Services team! In this role your cartographic and geographic expertise will contribute to LCRA’s mission to enhance the quality of life of the Texans we serve. You will have the opportunity to assist members across the organization as well as members of the public using your expert-level knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, cartographic design principles, color theory, map production and all things cartography. You will be trusted to:

- At a senior level, performs cartographic design and production tasks, applying in-depth knowledge of standard methodologies and experience to provide and improve services.
- Works with internal and external customers and organizations to identify product needs; Analyzes, designs and crafts aesthetically pleasing maps (print, digital and interactive).
- Supports LCRA departments with map and graphics production for public information and distribution.
- Creates maps, graphics and exhibits for LCRA Board meetings, public forums and open house events.
- Plans, designs and develops integrated cartographic production solutions using aesthetic concepts such as balance, color harmony, color theory and visual hierarchy.
- Leads development and maintenance of departmental guidelines and standards.
- Supports web page development efforts and publishes maps to the intranet/internet.
- Balances competing high priority work demands, sometimes with short turnaround needed. Plans, prioritizes and coordinates work within assigned work area.
- Researches technological changes and innovation in the industry to maintain knowledge base and ability to provide solutions to customers.

You qualify with:

- Nine or more years of experience in cartographic design and production, pre-print layout and spatial analysis of data or other relevant experience.
- A degree(s) in cartography, geography, graphic arts or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.

You are a great fit with:

- Knowledge of LCRA's geographical presence and role in the community.
- Skill in analyzing and solving problems as well as articulating complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Skill in identifying the best format to display graphics and spatial data depending on project need.
- Skill in computer graphic production including, but not limited to vector and raster images for prepress, computer terminal display and offset printing.
- Ability to generalize various data sources to suit mapping scale, purpose and audience.
- Ability and desire to work in a team environment as well as independently.
