At LCRA, we are looking for a System Protection Engineer to join our team! As a part of LCRA's Transmission Protection team, your primary task will be to develop protective relay settings and perform system coordination studies for LCRA TSC capital projects. You will also be asked to be a mentor and leader to teammates. A top candidate with 1-16 years of system protection experience is preferred. You will be trusted to:

- Developing transmission system protective relay settings
- Performing protective relay coordination studies
- Conducting disturbance analysis of electric system fault events
- Relay misoperation analysis, reporting, and corrective action plans
- Assisting with NERC compliance on PRC standards
- Working on capital project development as part of the LCRA TSC capital planning process

You qualify with:

- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas plus eight or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job, including providing technical leadership in engineering.  
- Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

- Experience in relay coordination software (e.g. ASPEN OneLiner, CAPE, etc) and protective relay settings software
- Experience in electrical print reading (e.g. relay one-line diagrams, DC schematics, etc)
- Experience in power system apparatus (e.g. circuit breakers, circuit switchers, fuses, transformers, etc) and symmetrical components
- Experience in software programming (e.g. Python, VBA, LiveCode, etc)
- Experience in NERC reliability standards and ERCOT market rules
- Ability to have an attention to detail, being a team player, desire to learn new tasks, willing to take initiative on tasks, questioning attitude and a desire for continuous improvement.
