The LCRA Irrigation team is hiring an Electrician II! In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work hand in hand with industry and agricultural partners across Matagorda and Wharton counties. The role centers on maintaining critical infrastructure and managing low, medium, and high voltage equipment. Responsibilities include the upkeep, inspection, repair, testing, and installation of various electrical components like motors, breakers, and transformers. This position may have assigned responsibilities during natural disasters such as hurricanes or floods. You will be trusted to:

- Travel independently or with a small crew to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, parks, recreation areas, conservation areas, etc.) as scheduled.
- Review both short-term and long-term workloads schedules to ensure adequate workflow. Provide input into budgeting process, pay actions, and other employment decisions, equipment replacement and/or repair, and decisions pertaining to effectiveness of work group efforts.
- Often operate heavy equipment including Tractor/Mowers, Track-Hoe, Backhoe, Dump Trucks, Dozers, etc. Use effective problem-solving skills to identify maintenance requirements on an annual basis
- Install, maintain, remove, inspect, test, and repair electric motors, generators, electrical circuit breakers, condensers, transformers, switches, communication systems, and electrical and electronic control equipment and wiring.
- Perform maintenance, repair and operational / diagnostic tests as required on all power apparatus in substations, power plants, or other installations. Record test results. Develop and prepare summary of test results in reports.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and general upkeep of electrical and electronic equipment and test gear.
- May perform low-voltage and high-voltage switching according to standard procedures and in coordination with System Operations.

You qualify with:

- Two or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction of electrical power generation, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, and/or other types of electrical equipment, including experience reading blueprints or relevant experience. A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver’s license required for incumbents assigned to the dam & hydro function.
- Class A Texas commercial driver’s license or equivalent from another state required for incumbents with heavy equipment operation and transportation responsibilities.

You are a great fit with:

- Knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring methods, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and blueprints.
- Knowledge of UPS and backup generators.
- Ability to develop scopes of work and project estimates.
- Ability to operate lifts, excavator, forklift, etc.
-Troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently and effectively.
