Throughout our organization, our Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) are respected and valued colleagues, entrusted with providing key insights and counsel on a wide variety of people and business issues such as organizational design, competitive compensation analysis, employment law compliance, culture change and employee performance. The HRBPs serve a key role within our HR team, strategically connecting activities across various HR functions and helping the HR team keep a pulse on business initiatives.

A Senior HRBP will be engaging, collaborative, have excellent discernment, be adept at building productive relationships, effectively balance creativity with practicality when developing business solutions, have excellent attention to detail and be passionate about helping others. Our ideal candidate will have an extremely solid foundation of experience handling employee relations issues and employment law compliance with an objective, fair and compassionate approach. Strong writing skills, and experience in supporting immigration matters would also be ideal for this job.

This Senior HR Business Partner will primarily support HR activities in LCRA’s Wholesale Power and Water departments. This position occasionally requires some day travel to locations throughout LCRA’s service territory.

You will be trusted to:

- Provide responsive, consistent, accurate and solution-oriented HR services and information to executives, managers and employees.
- Develop strong relationships within assigned business areas to yield effective business partnerships and smart solutions.
- Provide insight to HR leadership to help ensure that HR priorities are consistent with business objectives.
- Resolve complex employee relations issues and perform investigations, as well as guide managers and employees through discipline and performance improvement processes.
- Demonstrate and foster exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, to include strong writing abilities without the use of AI.
- Serve as a key resource related to the implementation of HR policies, procedures and strategies.
- Proactively assess and anticipate HR-related needs and develop solutions designed to meet those needs, being mindful to balance creativity with practicality and compliance.
- Develop business acumen and maintain awareness of business issues.
- Develop and prepare reports and deliver presentations as needed to address a wide variety of business requests ranging from key strategic matters to tactical questions.
- Support immigration and/or visa sponsorship activities in collaboration with legal counsel and HR leadership.
- Serve as a key contributor for some emergency management activities involving employees

You qualify with:

- Nine or more years of experience in human resources, including three or more years of experience in employee relations or conflict resolution or other relevant experience. A degree(s) in human resource management, business administration or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.  
- Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

- Robust experience with and demonstrated skill in employee relations and employment law compliance.
- A degree in human resource management, business administration or relevant field.
- An HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
- Strong consultative, mentoring and coaching skills.
- A demonstrated ability to establish credibility, trust and partnership at all levels of the organization.
- Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate, influence, negotiate, resolve conflicts and effectively coach both managers and employees.
- Advanced communication skills, including verbal and written to all levels of the organization.
- Experience developing compliant, efficient, and effective HR solutions to business needs.
- Experience using PeopleSoft.
- Appreciation for excellent work and doing things “the right way.”
- Desire to perform work that is sometimes urgent in nature.
- Solid organization, time management, and self-motivated productivity skills.
- Enjoyment working with a team (and a great team, at that!).
- Experience supporting a craft and technical, utilities, and/or plant work environment with safety sensitive considerations.
- Desire to work in a hybrid work environment.
