Essential Job Functions: This position is contingent on the availability and continuation of external-funding and/or contract. As such, any offer of employment may be withdrawn or employment ended in the event the external funding and/or contract ceases or is reduced.

1. Provides nurturing and assistance to children in the classroom to ensure an enriching, safe, and clean classroom and playground environment.
2. Assists in the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum to ensure a stimulating learning experience.
3. Supervises children during arrival, dismissal, playground time and lunch to ensure children are safe and accounted for at all times.
4. Communicates with parents, coordinators and other primary care givers to ensure a positive, participating environment.
5. Serves as a substitute teacher to ensure that assistance and support are provided to the students at all times.
6. Prepares classroom learning materials and displays to ensure appropriate learning support materials are available at all times.
7. Monitors and coordinates activities to provide children with an enhanced learning experience.
8. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Marginal Job Functions: 1. Fulfills work obligations including promptness to department meetings, parent meetings, and open houses.
2. Maintains a professional posture regarding program participants, co-workers, and administration.
3. Completes special projects as assigned.
4. Provides coverage in other Early Learning Program Centers as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
2. Punctual and reliable.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
1. Ability to lift, bend, carry, and put down up to fifty (50) pounds on a continuous basis.
2. Repeated lifting and placing down of children required.
3. Ability to sit on the floor for extended periods of time.
Job Requirements:  
Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Successful completion of the FDLE Background Screening.
2. Must complete prior to the first day of employment the on-line Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training (4-hour course).
3. Employees who do not have a completed degree (Associates or higher) in Early Childhood Education or related field must complete within ninety (90) days of hire a CDA (Child Development Associate) or CDA equivalent.
4. Must complete within ninety (90) days of hire the state mandated Early Literacy for Children Birth to Three childcare trainings (5-hour course).
5. Complete yearly in-service trainings provided by the NSU University School Preschool.
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Major (if required):  
Required Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Previous experience in the field of early childhood.
2. Additional knowledge and experience in parent education and parent support.
3. Familiarity and knowledge concerning appropriate child development issues.
