Primary Purpose:

Designs, develops, implements, and maintains custom system software, and/or installs and maintains purchased systems software, as well as configures and supports hardware systems across NSU Health. Develops proposals that consider alternatives and business case, and gains needed institutional approvals.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Leads the development of new clinical software and peer-review of other team members’ development of clinical software.

2. Analyzes, designs, configures, and tests clinical software to drive business outcomes.

3. Leads problem analysis and preparation of programming specifications, including flow charts.

4. Leads root cause analysis investigations for clinical technical issue resolution, including diagnosis of problems, recommendations for corrective action, and implementation of resolutions.

5. Oversees accuracy and implementation of clinical system documentation according to the IT methodology (proposals, designs, test specifications, and other deliverables as necessary) for new and existing clinical applications.

6. Collaborates with outside organizations, clinical leadership, clinical information analyst, and clinical trainers for process improvement initiatives within the clinical systems.

7. Leads clinical team in the design, development, and management of clinical systems and applications, upgrades, integrations, documenting project schedules, implementation timelines, training, template development, and go-live plans, etc.

8. Serve as subject matter experts to assess the feasibility of technical requirements and designs based on business implications, value-add, and return of investments.

9. Interacts with users through various phases of design, implementation, testing, resolving, and maintenance of clinical systems and applications.

10. Assists project management with the planning of tasks for new clinical programs, applications, and resource assessment.

11. Provides advanced training on clinical systems, ensuring that all clinical informatics team members are proficient in the use of new clinical applications, upgrades, and integrations.

12. Interfaces with current and potential partners to resolve complex problems and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

13. Researches and applies new technologies, development techniques, and best practices by leveraging experience, industry contacts, seminars, and books.

14. Serves as liaison for clinical informatics to provide recommendations and clarity on clinical systems processes for investigations, implementations, and design of processes around new regulations, policy changes, and legal/compliance matters.

15. Serve as the lead clinical informatics resource for the development of proposals, planning, and implementation of new clinics and practices.

16. Maintains the strictest confidentiality in accordance with policies, federal laws, and regulations.

17. Functions in a leadership role in the absence of the leadership teams.

18. Completes special projects as assigned.

19. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Certifications/Licensures: 

Preferred Qualifications:  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Healthcare Administration.

2. NextGen Certified Professional, Scrum Master, and Agile Certified.
