Primary Purpose:

Demonstrates expertise in educating undergraduate and/or post graduate students, with a prior faculty appointment or by way of experience in a responsible position related to an academic area of specialization.

 

Job Category: Exempt

Hiring Range:  Commensurate with experience

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Teaches College of Osteopathic Medicine course(s) in the classroom or in small group discussion or laboratory as assigned.
2. Teaches and works closely with the faculty of the Department of Sports Medicine/OPP and other disciplines of the COM.
3. Participates in ambulatory care in the Sports Medicine Clinic.
4. Provides and maintains a reliable schedule of office hours for student advising, tutoring, remediation and consultation.
5. Participates in department and college wide committee meetings.
6. Engages in curriculum development related to current and new courses.
7. Maintains a personal professional developmental plan which may include research or other creative activities to assure growth within the specified field or discipline.
8. Displays professional behavior and ethics in all aspects of job performance.
9. Performs other appropriate duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements: 

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, and support staff at all levels.
2. Possess upright posture, endurance, strength, flexibility, stability and mobility adequate to safely guide, enhance and resist movement of another person, and to perform physical exams.
3. Maintains equilibrium and controls movement of self and of a patient or student in and changing between sitting, standing, prone, lateral recumbent and supine positions while performing neuromusculoskeletal diagnosis and osteopathic manipulative treatment.
4. Communicates effectively, efficiently and in a sensitive manner both verbally and non-verbally in order to interact with all members in both educational and clinical settings.

Required Certifications/Licensures: Primary care AOA Board certified or Board eligible in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine or other comparable primary care specialty training program with a CAQ certification in Sports Medicine.

Required Education: Terminal Degree (Highest degree in field of study)

Major (if required: 

Required Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of clinical experience after the completion of a residency/fellowship program.
