Summary

The Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) invites applications and nominations for a faculty position at the instructional track, assistant teaching professor level in statistics. Michigan Tech is searching for outstanding candidates who can add to the existing research and teaching strengths in multiple research areas.

Responsibilities 

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, experimental design or other BME and Math courses, as well as help supervise senior design projects and assist in sponsored research where appropriate.

Must be willing and able to contribute to Department, University, and external professional service activities.

Integrate safety practices into daily activities and commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

Earned MS in Statistics or a closely related field.

Required Experience

Teaching experience in statistics and biostatistics, experimental design and other Math or BME courses.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field.

We desire applicants with face-to-face and online teaching experience, teaching experience at the graduate level in their area of expertise, and an interest and ability to conduct research.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

Ability to teach statistics, biostatistics, calculus and experimental design at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

Demonstrated success in, or potential future contributions to, working with persons from diverse backgrounds, creating a sense of belonging, and fostering a fair, objective, welcoming workplace for persons with various personal characteristics and viewpoints.
