The Assistant Director for Academic and Career Integration leads the office’s continued efforts in delivering, growing, and enhancing our academic partnerships and career ecosystem initiatives across the university.The Assistant Director will provide focused direction towards the integration and enhancement of a career development ecosystem into the academic and curricular activities of the University. Efforts to engage faculty to initiate collaborative partnerships, align department and college-level learning outcomes and career readiness competencies, and support student career development throughdata-driven best practices will be pursued. Responsibilities and Essential Duties • Serve as the leader of Career Services’ efforts to engage faculty and academic units to initiate collaborative partnerships, including oversight of the development and implementation of a robust career champion network• Serve as key liaison with every academic department chair, including navigating opportunities for the office to tailor opportunities for each college• Research, compile, and share content and data with campus partners (namely faculty and staff) that will empower integrated learning especially considering career readiness competencies (the identification, development, and articulation of key knowledge, skills, and abilities frequently cited by employers)• Alongside the Executive Director and Assistant Director for Career Development and Education, serve as a liaison between academic units and students to coordinate activities associated with career development• Alongside the Executive Director and leadership team, collaborate with• on-campus colleges to integrate career development programming into the curriculum and align college-specific recruiting needs with customized events• Advise and counsel students, alumni and prospective students in career exploration, development, and job search strategies, using a variety of methods/tools• Design, facilitate and evaluate activities and workshops regarding career preparation including resume and interview preparation, job-search strategies and experiential learning preparation• Represent and support Executive Director and university leadership as needed• Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to ensure that services delivered to students are audience-specific, timely, relevant, needs-based, aligned with leadership’s priorities and student learning outcomes, and can be evaluated• Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager• Participate and actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives and strategies and apply knowledge to everyday work• Actively engage in creating a welcoming and professional work environment for staff, students, and visitors• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work Required Education, Certifications, Licensures ● Masters degree Required Experience ● Five or more years of professional work experience in higher education, or the equivalent combination of military, education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.● Three or more years of fostering collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders, especially faculty and academic leaders● Three or more years planning and delivering educational experiences and opportunities in an academic setting● Demonstrated ability to document steps in a process and make recommendations to improve processes● Demonstrated experience utilizing spreadsheets to track, analyze, interpret, and present data● Demonstrated experience with invoicing and managing budgets Desirable Education and/or Experience ● Experience working in a higher education career services department● Demonstrated knowledge in building strategic plans● Experience at a STEM-related institution of higher education● Report writing experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities ● Communication skills: Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.● Self-management skills: ability to manage time effectively, learn and contribute to overall departmental tasks and goals.● Project coordination skills: ability to lead or contribute to planning or organizing projects, programs, services, etc.● Conflict resolution skills: ability to use interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive professional relationships and resolve conflict in a team environment and with individuals from various backgrounds and experiences.● Analytical skills: ability to analyze information and offer sound recommendations.● Computational skills: ability to perform basic mathematical computations to assist with financial operations and/or data collection, analysis, and reporting.● Computer skills: proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software, preferably Microsoft Office or Google Suite.● Ability to function effectively and make sound decisions in stressful and crisis situations.● Ability to handle multiple projects, services, activities, etc. in a timely and professional manner in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment.● Ability to be flexible, diplomatic, patient, service-driven, and a self-starter.● Ability to work independently under limited supervision and in teams.● Ability to make reasoned administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive and confidential issues.● Ability to work evening and weekend hours based on operational need. Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities ● Experience using career services related software and its application in a placement/career services environment● Experience advising technical or engineering-related students Demonstrated success in working with persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.
