Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking a clinically focused, mission-driven physician educator to join the Division of Osteopathic Manual Medicine (OMM). This role offers a unique opportunity to build a meaningful clinical practice while shaping the next generation of physicians through hands-on teaching and mentorship. The position is primarily dedicated to delivering high-quality primary care, including osteopathic manual medicine, complemented by a defined and impactful commitment to academic engagement.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide comprehensive primary care, integrating osteopathic manual medicine, while managing an active patient panel and supporting clinic operations
  • Meet clinical productivity and quality benchmarks; participate in peer review and quality improvement initiatives
  • Precept medical students in clinical settings and mentor OMM scholars and residents
  • Contribute to teaching across lectures, labs, and clinical instruction, including student evaluation and assessment
  • Engage in service activities, including committees, admissions, community outreach, and required compliance responsibilities

What we are looking for:

  • Have earned a Doctor of Osteopathy or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an AOA-accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
  • Board-eligible/certified by the American Osteopathic Board of (specialty) or board-eligible/certified by the American Board of (specialty).
  • If board-eligible, you must obtain certification within one year of employment.
  • Must possess significant experience in osteopathic manual medicine (e.g. completion of an undergraduate OMM fellowship/scholarship, experience teaching OMM, completion of an OMM/NMM residency, etc.)
  • Be a member in good standing in all appropriate professional and governmental organizations.

Annual Security Report

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Des Moines University publishes an annual security report and makes it available to all current and prospective students and employees. The report contains a description of DMU’s safety and security-related policy statements and procedures and includes statistics of crimes reported over the past three years to DMU officials about incidents occurring on campus locations or nearby public property. The report also includes information about ways to stay safe and report security-related incidents.
