Assistant Professor of African American Literature South Hadley, MA
The Department of English at Mount Holyoke College invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of African American Literature. We welcome complementary expertise and teaching in Africana and Black diasporic studies including Caribbean literature, Black Atlantic, Black Canadian, Afro-Latin, and other transatlantic and hemispheric studies. The Department likewise aims to support scholars with interdisciplinary and global interests; our faculty specialize in a wide array of subjects, working in areas of literature and cultural studies including gender studies, queer theory, labor, postcolonial theory, media studies, visual culture, Asian American Studies and Black Studies, among others. There will be opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with such programs as Africana Studies, Latina/o Studies, Gender Studies, Film Media Theater, and Critical Race and Political Economy.

The Program in Africana Studies at Mount Holyoke College invites applications for a tenure-track position to begin Fall 2023. We welcome a range of interdisciplinary areas of expertise, and are especially interested in scholars whose research explores Black radical social and political movements; transnational connections between African cultures and the Americas; hemispheric entanglements of Blackness and Indigeneity within and/or in relation to Afro-Latinidad; and performance and expressive cultures. The successful candidate will be engaged in interdisciplinary scholarship that reflects an investment in comparative and transnational approaches, intersectional analysis, and critical theoretical frameworks. The position will be in the new Department of Critical Race and Political Economy.

The Department of History at Mount Holyoke College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Native American history at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2023. In exceptional circumstances, an appointment at the level of associate or full professor may be considered. Geographic region is open; areas of specialization may include environmental history and traditional ecological knowledge, material culture, Indigenous epistemologies, political systems and governance, colonization, disease, intercultural relations, women and gender, Atlantic or Pacific worlds, Indigenous borderlands. We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of authentic engagement with Native American and Indigenous communities. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of strong teaching at the undergraduate level, an active research program that can engage undergraduates as research assistants, and experience mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. The successful candidate will teach 200-level courses in social psychology as well as advanced 300-level laboratory and seminar courses in their area of specialization. The candidate will also contribute to one of three core courses (i.e., Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, or Research Methods). The teaching load is 4 courses per year.
