North Idaho College Head Start is seeking a Part-Time Family Advocate in Coeur d Alene to implement comprehensive family services in alignment with program goals and regulations.
In this role, you’ll conduct home visits to assess family strengths and needs, support goal development, and provide crisis assistance when needed. You’ll help with recruitment and enrollment efforts through outreach and community engagement. Weekly participation in the classroom is expected, along with conducting health and developmental screenings. You’ll provide referrals, follow-up, and documentation for children and families, and support positive family-child relationships through ongoing involvement in the program.
Additional responsibilities include facilitating parent meetings and educational opportunities, mentoring new staff or interns, collaborating with community partners, and participating in committees and professional development. You’ll also maintain up-to-date family records and assist in ensuring smooth center operations.
We're looking for someone with strong interpersonal and organizational skills who can work effectively with families from all backgrounds. The ideal candidate brings a positive approach to early childhood, demonstrates written and oral communication strengths, and understands family systems, child development, and social work ethics. Proficiency with computers and data systems, confidentiality, and professionalism are essential in representing Head Start within the program and community.
Starting pay range: $20.50 - $21.50
Work Site Location: Head Start - Coeur d Alene
Work Schedule: up to 19.5 hrs per week, July-June

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Level I: Associates degree in Social Services.
Level II: Bachelors degree in Social Services.
Experience:
Experience as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom
Required License and/or Certifications:
• Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
• Meet all training and certification requirements for childcare licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
• Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
• Meet terms of Statement of Agreement/ Employment Declaration.
• Pass an enhanced criminal background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check and proof of degree if required for this position.
