Join North Idaho College, on our beautiful lakeside campus, as an Assistant Professor of Computer Information Technology/Cybersecurity, where you’ll play a key role in preparing the next generation of IT and security professionals.

In this role, you’ll teach courses and advise students in CITE and Cybersecurity programs, and maintain weekly office and campus hours to support student success. You’ll deliver engaging instruction using a range of modalities - including online platforms, virtual labs, and industry tools such as Cisco Network Academy, CompTIA TestOut, and NDG’s NETLAB+. You’ll also coordinate Cybersecurity program curriculum, evaluate learning outcomes, and help lead continuous improvement efforts across courses and certificates.

This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with our on-premises cloud infrastructure, Security Operations Center, and virtual lab environments - managing servers, network connections, virtualization systems, and security tools that mirror real world environments. You’ll select learning resources, develop high-quality instructional materials, and provide timely grading and feedback. Additional responsibilities include mentoring adjunct faculty, participating in recruitment and committee work, and staying current through professional development and training.

We’re looking for someone with strong technical expertise in networking, cybersecurity, virtualization, Linux, and programming; excellent communication and time-management skills; and a passion for teaching students from a variety of backgrounds. A commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college is essential - and an enthusiasm for supporting students as they enter a fast-moving, high-demand field.

This position is expected to start Spring '26 semester.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field and five (5) years of full time equivalent recent related experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field and three (3) years of full-time equivalent recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from multi-cultural backgrounds

Required License and/or Certifications:
Must achieve related Idaho CTE Postsecondary Limited Occupational Specialist Certification within the first 12 months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong skills in firewall (pfSense, Cisco ASA) and WAF configuration, virtualization (Proxmox, Linux KVM) containerization, cloud computing, and demonstrated skills troubleshooting communications networks.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and time management skills.
• Expert knowledge of networking communications and protocols, IPv4 subnetting, cybersecurity philosophies and concepts in regards to Confidentiality Integrity and Availability (CIA) and Advanced Persistent Threats (APT).
• Advanced knowledge of Linux commands and system administration, Python programming, SQL, and the use and management of LDAP directory services.
• Desired skills or ability to develop and use NIST cybersecurity policies and procedures.
• Ability to configure Cisco routers, CISCO switches, and Wireshark with basic security configuration.
• Ability to configure and use Security Information Event Management and Extended Detection and Response Systems (Security Onion, Wuzah).
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
• Ability to use a personal computer and associated peripherals and current version of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Internet, and alternative delivery systems (e.g., internet and interactive video) at a proficient level.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment including phone and copier

Starting pay range: $50,553 - $72,670

Work Schedule: This tenure track position has summers off, with pay and benefits spread over 12 months!
