North Idaho College Head Start is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Part-Time Facility Technician to support our Shoshone Center in Kellogg. This role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff while supporting the mission and goals of the Head Start program.
In this position, you’ll handle daily janitorial and general maintenance tasks according to the center schedule, ensuring classrooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces are sanitary, functional, and well maintained. You’ll assist with facility repairs and maintenance projects, operate tools and equipment such as mowers, snow blowers, and hand tools, and maintain both the interior and exterior of the building, including landscaping and seasonal upkeep. You’ll help organize storage areas, move furniture, and support set-up and breakdown for meetings and events. The role also includes identifying and reporting safety concerns, completing required documentation, participating in professional development, and working collaboratively with center staff to support smooth daily operations. Flexibility is important, as duties may vary to meet the unique needs of the program and families served.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of custodial/maintenance experience required
Required License and/or Certifications:
• Maintain current Infant/Child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
• Pass an enhanced background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Ability to operate all required equipment.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions as well as established policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
• Represent the Head Start program in the community and with other professionals, positively and with professionalism.
Starting pay: $15.35
Work Site Location: Head Start - Shoshone
Work Schedule: Up to 19.5 hrs/week, Sept-May with summers off
