As a Family Advocate for North Idaho College Head Start, you will work directly with families and children to ensure they receive the support and resources needed to thrive. You will assist families in identifying needs, setting goals, and connecting them with vital community services, all while maintaining program standards and regulatory compliance. In this role, you will conduct home visits to assess family strengths and challenges, provide crisis support when necessary, and actively participate in the recruitment and enrollment of families through community outreach and advertising efforts. Keeping accurate and up-to-date family records, conducting health and developmental screenings, and offering referrals are key responsibilities. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and confidentiality, and who has a genuine passion for early childhood development and family support. Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Level I: Associates degree in Social Services.
Level II: Bachelors degree in Social Services.

Experience as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom.

Required License and/or Certifications:
• Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
• Meet all training and certification requirements for childcare licensing and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
• Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
• Meet terms of Statement of Agreement/ Employment Declaration.
• Pass an enhanced criminal background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from diverse ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Working knowledge of computers and commonly used software for Internet and e-mail access, word processing and data collection and management.
• Positive approach to Early Childhood Development programs, health and social services.
• Demonstrated written, oral, and organizational skills.
• Understanding of theories of social work ethics, early childhood education and child and family development including family systems.
• Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
• Represent the Head Start program in the community and with other professionals, positively and with professionalism.

Starting pay range: $20.50 - $21.50
Pay Grade: Full-Time, 69% FTE

Work Site Location: Head Start - Coeur d'Alene
Work Schedule: July - June
