Head Athletic Trainer

Support the health, safety, and success of student-athletes in a hands-on role leading athletic training services across the athletics program. The Head Athletic Trainer provides injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care while developing and implementing injury prevention strategies in partnership with coaches and student-athletes. The position also coordinates physical exams, athletic training coverage for home and away events, injury documentation, insurance processes, and ongoing communication with student-athletes, families, coaches, and healthcare providers.

This role serves as a key resource for the athletics department, helping ensure student-athletes receive consistent, timely, and professional care throughout their participation. Responsibilities also include maintaining athletic training equipment and supplies, coordinating medical coverage for camps and special events, developing and updating policies and emergency action plans, and ensuring compliance with applicable college and athletic governing body requirements. Building strong relationships with area healthcare professionals and graduate athletic training programs is also an important part of the position.

We're looking for an experienced athletic training professional with strong knowledge of injury recognition, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention. The ideal candidate is calm and decisive in emergency situations, highly organized, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, families, medical providers, and campus partners. The successful candidate will bring sound professional judgment, ethical standards, and a commitment to providing high-quality care and support to student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and three years full-time equivalent related experience and/or training; or a Master’s degree and one-year full-time equivalent related experience and/or training.

Required License and/or Certifications:
• Certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (ATC)
• Licensure by the Idaho State Board of Medicine (LAT)
• Basic Life Support/Professional Rescuer or Beyond certification
• First Aid Certification
• Current valid Driver’s License

Starting pay range: $59,888 - $71,865

Work Schedule: Full time. May include early mornings, evenings, nights, or weekends.
