Job Summary
The Office of Annual Giving is searching for a talented communication or digital marketing professional to join the annual giving team in our efforts to raise funds to support the people, programs and facilities of Illinois State University.
This person will report to the Director, Annual Giving Communication to identify, plan and execute annual giving crowdfunding campaigns. They will also help with execution for Birds Give Back, the University’s annual day of giving.
Work tasks may include but are not limited to:
1. Meets with campus partners to learn about their funding needs, brainstorming digital fundraising ideas and communications.
2. Establish goals and create communication plans to help campus partners successfully meet their digital fundraising goals.
3. Executes crowdfunding projects for Illinois State’s Hatch crowdfunding platform to support campus cause-based fundraising projects.
4. Development and execution of integrated communication plans to drive donations to crowdfunding sites and to steward donors for improved donor retention.
5. Reporting and assessment of crowdfunding campaign results, and overall crowdfunding growth and impact.
6. Giving day website content management using the website’s content management system.
7. Assist in copywriting as part of the crowdfunding communications strategies (news stories, email appeals, video copy, webpage copy) or other fundraising duties as directed by Director, Annual Giving Communications.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$1510 /Monthly
Required Qualifications
1. Must be a degree-seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in Communication.
2. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf.
3. Interest in supporting and learning fundraising tactics and skills.
4. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
5. General computer knowledge and competence, specifically experience with Microsoft Office Suite and digital design platforms.
6. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work is required. GRE may be required for some programs.
7. Ability to work effectively on several projects simultaneously.
8. Ability to provide or obtain transportation to the Alumni Center for work hours at 1101 N. Main St. Normal, IL
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience designing and implementing integrated communication or marketing plans
2. General website content management experience and knowledge of basic HTML
3. Previous fundraising experience
4. Demonstrated ability to achieve measurable goals and outcomes
Work Hours
To be determined with the Director, Annual Giving Communication between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
