Job Summary
The Program Specialist collaborates closely with the Associate Director, University College in providing administrative and programmatic leadership for University College Orientation and Training Services. The Program Specialist oversees the day-to-day planning as well as overall operation of the summer Preview program, the Transfer Registration and Orientation Day and other transition efforts provided by the unit. In addition to the day-to-day operations of orientation programs, the Program Specialist is also responsible for the behind-the-scenes planning process for each program. The Specialist must organize the on and off-campus constituents in the months leading up to orientation programs.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$48,000 - $52,000/annual
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelors or equivalent degree (verify with transcript)
2. Two (2) years of full time (or part time equivalent) responsible experience in supervising, organizing, coordinating or other significant work with specific educational or administrative program initiatives.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills including listening, communication (verbal and written) and teamwork.
4. Working knowledge of basic office software.
5. Demonstrated experience in working with students, faculty, departmental staff and campus administrators as well as off-campus contacts.
6. Demonstrated experience planning and executing engaging and innovative training and/or professional development sessions for students or staff.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Two (2) years of professional work experience in orientation or related field.
2. Master's Degree (preferred in Education, College Student Personnel, or related field).
3. Ability to multitask and produce quality work under deadlines, organizational skills, and flexibility.
Work Hours
Core work hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional weekend or evening responsibilities

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
3. Move about campus in various locations as needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
