Job Summary
The purpose of this position, under supervision from a senior team member or supervisor, is to provide effective service to equipment and facilities, supporting the mission and goals of Event Management, Dining and Hospitality (EMDH). Facilities Services Building Operating Engineers coordinate and/or perform most aspects of maintenance and service for EMDH equipment and facilities, responding to calls for equipment, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and heating/cooling issues. The individual maintains the safety of all staff, through the use of safe practices in equipment maintenance and installations. This position provides support, for the operational needs of the department.

$25.00 per hour
Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Two (2) years (24 months) of full-time (or part-time equivalent) employment in the maintenance of building mechanical equipment and/or as a mechanic of refrigeration, ventilation, and/or food-service equipment
3. Valid driver's license
Work Hours
Friday and Saturday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. May be additional hours on an as needed basis.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
Must have manual dexterity and motor skills needed to perform mechanical repairs and work on a variety of machinery, appliances, hardware, and structures. Heavy physical exertion and activity will be required at times. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University’s supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.
