Job Summary
Duties include answering the telephone in an informed, professional manner, transfer phone calls to staff offices, answer questions, direct calls to proper campus resources. Greet guests in a customer-service oriented professional manner, offer directions as needed, assist with requests. Perform general duties required to maintain the operation such as distribute office mail, keep desk clean and uncluttered, refill resource supplies, remain current on campus information/resources, attend staff training sessions as required. Will occasionally be asked to assist with other office projects, as needed. Training will be required to familiarize workers with Dean of Students units, office locations, and staff.
From their first day at Illinois State as new students, to their walk across the stage at Commencement, the Dean of Students Office assists students throughout their collegiate journey.
Through a variety of services, solutions, and support, the Dean of Students Office helps students apply what they learn in the classroom to real-life practice. Whether they are interested in joining or starting a registered student organization, participating in cultural learning experiences, or seeking to develop their leadership skills, the Dean of Students Office helps students find their way as they discover their passion at Illinois State.
The Dean of Students Office also serves as a student support network by providing advocacy, problem resolution, and crisis intervention for those times when additional support is needed. Notary services are also offered for students, faculty and staff.
All student employees in the Dean of Students Office must maintain good academic (min. 2.0 cumulativeGPA) and disciplinary standing from the point of application through term of employment. The employer will check status at the beginning and the end of each semester of employment.

Work Hours
Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. This is a school year position with about 5-10 hours per week.
