Job Summary
This is an advisor role in the College of Arts and Sciences with primary duties in the Department of Economics and the interdisciplinary program in Data Science. The advisor will work with students to support their transition from high school through graduation, or as they transfer from other undergraduate programs at ISU or from other institutions. The advisor will work to ensure students have clear plans of study and receive skilled advising for timely graduation.
Advisement requires knowledge of other majors/minors that complement the economics and data science majors, being aware of and understanding University and departmental policies and procedures, and communicating appropriate information to students, advisors, faculty, staff, and administrators. Coordinates recruitment and retention efforts for the two programs.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$48,000 - $54,000
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
2. Two (2) years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience in student success, advising, student recruitment, and/or student affairs.
3. Demonstrated leadership skills, including effective teamwork.
4. General fluency with technology that includes word processing, spreadsheet, and data software.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
6. Ability to produce quality work under deadlines.
7. Excellent organizational skills.
8. Experience working with diverse student populations.
9. Experience working independently, and with multiple stakeholders such as students, parents, faculty, advisors, chairs/directors.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's degree.
2. Strong student support skills.
3. Ability to work in a team and across multiple departments and disciplines
4. Experience working with advising and student success-related software and data management systems.
Work Hours
37.5 hours. Duties generally will be performed during typical work hours. Occasionally, there will be a need to attend events in the evening or on weekends, such as recruitment and retention events. Most of the work will be conducted in an office setting. Occasional campus tours will be required. Recruiting events may occur off campus.
Functional Expectations
Must be able to complete the following with or without reasonable accommodation:

2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
