The Biosecurity Compliance branch within Department of Primary Industries are looking to establish a talent pool of skilled and motivated individuals for multiple roles of Licensing Clerk and Licensing & Accreditation Officer.

 

About the Role

The Licensing Clerk is responsible for maintaining a system for licensing and accreditation under the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986 and the Animal Research Act 1985.

The Licencing and Accreditation officer role is responsible for processing licenses, accreditations and registration applications, issuing renewals, maintenance of appropriate records, recovering debts and any transactions in relation to these records. This role also performs a range of accreditation activities including but not limited to, the processing of certificates and applications from auditors, certifiers, issuing of renewals and maintenance of appropriate records in respect of branch programs.

 

About you  

To be successful in the role, our ideal candidate will have the following: 

Licencing Clerk

  • The ability to coordinate the assessment and processing of licensing applications lodged under exhibited animals and animal research legislation.
  • Strong skills in maintaining systems that accurately record licensing information and enable timely follow-up of regulatory requirements
  • Experience in producing reports using licensing records systems and databases
  • A commitment to delivering a high level of customer service, including providing accurate, timely, and relevant information to stakeholders and the public to support compliance with the exhibited animals and animal research legislation
  • A proactive approach to process, system and database improvements, testing system updates, and briefing relevant service providers
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, ensuring legislative and procedural timelines are met.

Licensing and Accreditation Officer

  • Strong skills in maintaining systems that accurately record licensing information and enable timely follow-up of regulatory requirements
  • Experience in producing reports using licensing records systems and databases
  • A commitment to delivering a high level of customer service, including providing accurate, timely, and relevant information to stakeholders and the public to support compliance with the Biosecurity and Food Safety legislation
  • A proactive approach to process, system and database improvements, testing system updates, and briefing relevant service providers
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, ensuring legislative and procedural timelines are met.

 

About the team

Within the Agriculture and Biosecurity division, Biosecurity and Food Safety branch is responsible for effective management and risk minimisation of biosecurity threats to NSW as well as the through-chain regulation of food safety. It delivers a risk-based approach to policy and compliance and provides regional engagement and coordination in response to emergency incidents and natural disasters impacting primary industries and the food sector. The Biosecurity & Food Safety Compliance team administers proactive compliance programs to manage several identified biosecurity risks.
