  • Temporary opportunity to March 2026 

The Senior Policy Officer takes a leading role in shaping land management and biodiversity policies within Local Land Services (LLS). In this position, you’ll be at the forefront of developing and coordinating policy initiatives, including drafting Codes of Practice and supporting legislative reform across key areas like native vegetation and sustainable agriculture.

You’ll engage closely with stakeholders across government, industry, and the community to ensure policies are practical, evidence-based, and aligned with regional needs. From researching emerging issues to advising on high-level decisions, your work will directly support effective regulation and better outcomes for landholders, ecosystems, and the broader NSW landscape.

 

About the role:

  • Leading research and analysis on complex biodiversity, land management and native vegetation policy issues.
  • Providing clear, evidence-based policy advice to stakeholders, senior leaders, and government.
  • Building collaborative relationships across government, industry and community groups.
  • Representing LLS at policy forums and interagency working groups.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong interest in policy development, with an ability to interpret legislation and advise on reform.
  • Knowledge of biodiversity, native vegetation, and agricultural land management policy frameworks.
  • High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and project coordination abilities.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and sound political awareness.
