About the Role
The Senior Fisheries Technician will lead and execute complex technical aspects of freshwater fisheries research in NSW. The role contributes to project design and implementation, manages technical resources and teams, and ensures all field and lab activities adhere to safety and sampling protocols. As the Senior Fisheries Technician, you will coordinate logistics, maintain equipment, and undertake hands-on field data collection in remote areas, which includes assessing gear, handling live fish, identifying specimens, and recording biological information.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fisheries sampling techniques, including managing equipment, data management, and implementing detailed sampling protocols. You will exhibit attention to detail and maintain technical requirements, including servicing equipment and record keeping. Additionally, you will be responsible for undertaking field data collection in remote areas including assessing gear modifications, live fish handling, specimen identification, collecting biological information and data recording.
