Are you passionate about shaping the future of regional NSW through data-driven insights and economic analysis? NSW Resources is building a dynamic new team to support the establishment of the Future Jobs and Investment Authority—and we’re looking for talented economics professionals to help us deliver strategic impact.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for the following exciting opportunities:

Manager – Data and Economics (Clerk Grade 11/12)

In this role you will lead a high-performing team of analysts to deliver economic insights that support investment and job creation in coal-producing regions. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership experience, deep analytical capability, and a track record of delivering evidence-based recommendations in complex policy environments.

Key capabilities:

  • Leadership and team development.
  • Advanced economic analysis and modelling.
  • Strategic thinking and business case development.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication.

Senior Analyst - Economics (Clerk Grade 9/10)

These roles are ideal for experienced economists who can lead research and analysis projects, manage data sources and drive high-level economic and statistical analysis to inform policy and investment decisions. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to maintain a strong evidence base which supports the activities of the Future Jobs and Investment Authority.

Key capabilities:

  • Deep understanding of macro and microeconomics.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and economic modelling.
  • Experience managing and interpreting large datasets.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Analyst - Economics (Clerk Grade 7/8)

In these roles you will support the team with robust market and economic analysis, maintaining key datasets and contributing to research that informs the activities of the Future Jobs and Investment Authority. This is a great opportunity for early-career economists looking to make a meaningful impact.

Key capabilities:

  • Foundational knowledge of economic theory and statistics.
  • Ability to conduct market and industry research.
  • Familiarity with economic data sources (e.g. ABS, industry reports).
  • Strong written communication and reporting skills.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to work.

We’re seeking candidates with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in economic analysis, modelling, and data interpretation.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
