South East LLS are looking for a hands-on, community-focused Biosecurity Officer to join our dynamic Delivery team at Local Land Services (LLS). This role is your opportunity to work on the frontline of animal and plant health, pest and weed management, and biosecurity response and recovery efforts.

 

About the role:

As a Biosecurity Officer, you’ll deliver on-ground biosecurity programs that safeguard our region from threats to agriculture and the environment. Your work will involve:

  • Undertaking fieldwork and compliance tasks related to pest animals, weeds, and disease management
  • Supporting emergency response, surveillance and disease investigations
  • Building strong relationships with landholders, communities and stakeholders
  • Helping manage Travelling Stock Reserves (TSRs) and biosecurity recovery projects
  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting program evaluation

 

What we’re looking for:

We’re after someone who:

  • Has a strong understanding of pest and weed management, and biosecurity principles
  • Can work independently and in a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Communicates well and has a strong focus on customer service and community engagement
  • Has appropriate certifications or the ability to obtain them (e.g. pesticide qualifications, firearms licence, Cert IV in Government Investigations)
  • Holds a current NSW Driver Licence and is open to travel

*To be considered for an ongoing appointment applicants must be ongoing at either an equivalent or higher grade than this advertised vacancy (LLS Grade 4 or Clerk 3/4) OR on a current and valid talent pool at this grade or higher. Alternatively, if you do not meet the requirement for an ongoing appointment, you may only be considered for a temporary appointment of up to 12 months.
