Hunter Local Land Services is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Land Services Officer to lead a whole-of-catchment approach to weed management, with a strong focus on maintaining and strengthening partnerships with Local Government in the Hunter Catchment. This newly scoped role was identified as a key opportunity to optimise the future Hunter Catchment Contributions (HCC) Program and will play a pivotal role in delivering the RiverKeeper Program.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and lead collaborative strategies for riparian weed management across the Hunter catchment.
- Maintain strong, enduring partnerships with Local Government, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, Traditional Owners, land managers, and community groups to align and coordinate weed management efforts.
- Provide high-quality technical advice on weed identification, control methods, and integrated management practices.
- Plan, deliver, and monitor weed management projects with stakeholders to achieve measurable environmental outcomes.
- Contribute to catchment health through effective stakeholder engagement, program evaluation, and continuous improvement.
About you
You are passionate about healthy waterways and understand that effective weed management requires cooperation across boundaries. You bring:
- Proven experience in collaborative weed management, natural resource management, and biosecurity programs.
- Strong skills in building and maintaining partnerships with Local Government and community stakeholders.
- Excellent project management skills, from planning through to delivery and reporting.
- Sound knowledge of riparian ecology and best-practice weed control methods.
Essential requirements
- A degree in agricultural, environmental, natural resource management, biosecurity, or related discipline, or equivalent industry knowledge and experience.
- Experience in Bushland Regeneration team supervision.
- Current NSW Driver Licence and capacity to travel.
