The opportunity

We're seeking a Pest Animal Biosecurity Officer for our Narrabri Local Land Services location. Your primary mission is to protect the ecological balance of Narrabri in North West, NSW. Expect exciting fieldwork as you apply your expertise to combat pest animals and biosecurity threats in Australia's agricultural hub. Your goal is to maintain environmental integrity in line with state and national objectives, regional plans, and local strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements for pest animal management..
  • Develop and implement impactful programs, ensuring strict compliance with laws and regional strategies.
  • Conduct strategic initiatives for animal and plant health surveillance in the North West's natural environment.
  • Provide feedback for Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, and Improvement (MERI) of biosecurity measures.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with customers and stakeholders in the Narrabri district, aligning biosecurity activities with local values.
  • Initiate knowledge-sharing to empower stakeholders with the latest biosecurity management advancements.
  • Collaborate with team members and professionals to ensure adherence to legislated biosecurity obligations.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed about diverse biosecurity challenges in a dynamic cultural landscape.
  • Navigate the complex and challenging biosecurity environment, harmonizing tradition and progress.

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrate expertise in pesticide application with relevant certification.
  • Possess or have the capacity to obtain a NSW firearms license.
  • Hold or actively pursue a Certificate IV in Government Investigations.
  • Hold a valid NSW Class C Driver License & the ability and willingness to travel.
