About us

Local Land Services (LLS) was established in January 2014 to provide quality, customer focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. This is an Executive Agency related to the cluster. It provides quality, customer focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. This regionally-based organisation brings together a wide range of service and advisory functions including agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management, land management, biodiversity, emergency services and private native forestry.

Murray Local Land Services (LLS) is a regionally based NSW Government agency that provides rural land management support to improve farm viability and environmental sustainability.  We work with landholders and community partners to drive change on the ground in the areas of landscape management, agricultural production, biosecurity and emergency management.

About the role

Join Murray Local Land Services in leading our flagship river health project, Refreshing Rivers, across the Murray and Riverina Regions. Collaborate with local, state, and national partners to drive transformative change in catchment management and river health in New South Wales. Funded by the NSW Environmental Trust, this 10-year initiative began in 2021, showcasing a new model for improving river health outcomes. Find out more about the program at https://www.refreshingrivers.org.au/ and https://www.lls.nsw.gov.au/regions/murray/programs-and-projects/refreshing-rivers

The successful candidate will step in at year three (3) of the program. Working under the guidance of a Project Steering Committee and directly with the three target area project officers, you will be accountable for the overall success of the project, including:

  • Liaising with and maintaining good working relationships between all consortium partners
  • Maintaining whole-of-project contracts
  • Coordinating and/or delivering selected project components including trials of innovative technologies
  • Undertaking annual implementation plan development and monitoring plans and reporting
  • Undertaking budget preparation, monitoring and reporting
  • Providing direct supervision to project staff and overall coordination of the wider project team

About You:

To excel, you'll need demonstrated experience in complex project management (including planning, financial management and evaluation), relationship building, and natural resource management. Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are crucial. Supervisory experience and committee management are advantageous and a strong understanding of aquatic ecosystems and river health management as well as formal project management training would be highly regarded.

With a positive, solution-focused approach, you'll thrive autonomously, driving outcomes to high standards. You’ll also be able to work autonomously with limited supervision and simply get things done. A current driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the region are essential.
