The Department of Regional NSW’s (DRNSW) Governance Information & Privacy Team are looking for a Manager, Information & Privacy. In this dynamic role, you'll be the guardian of transparency and data protection, leading the Information and Privacy team to deliver critical information access and privacy services. You'll play a vital role in safeguarding the Agency's interests while adhering to rigorous legislative frameworks and exceeding the expectations of stakeholders, including the Government, Ministers, Departmental Executives, and the public.

Here's how you'll make a significant impact:

  • Become the trusted advisor on GIPA and Privacy matters as well as subpoenas and responses to motions issues under Standing Order 52.
  • Provide timely and insightful advice, ensuring informed decisions regarding information release that meet legislative and policy requirements and withstand scrutiny.
  • Contribute to the development of robust policies and procedures for information release. Lead the way in establishing transparent and efficient processes to manage requests effectively while protecting departmental interests.
  • Ensure meticulous adherence to the Privacy Act. Lead the investigation and resolution of any potential breaches, safeguarding personal information entrusted to the Department.
  • Work closely with the Director to navigate complex inquiries like document requests from bodies such as the Ombudsman and ICAC. Your sharp analysis will ensure the timely provision of requested information while identifying potential risks.
  • Foster a high-performing Information and Privacy team. Develop their capabilities, share valuable insights, and champion skill development initiatives. Empower your team to deliver exceptional project outcomes.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Provide expert advice on emerging issues and present well-considered recommendations to support project delivery in line with established plans, budgets, and policy objectives.
  • Support the Director in managing governance-related investigations, reviews, and processes. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring adherence to the highest ethical standards.

 About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven track record in GIPA, Privacy, and/or Governance related roles within a similar environment
  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to navigate complex legal frameworks.
  • To be a highly motivated leader
