The Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW), to become the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development from 1 July 2024, is seeking a dynamic and experienced chief executive to lead the Local Land Services (LLS) Executive Agency across the state.

About you

As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will lead LLS executive management teams across NSW, shaping the future of land management, influencing, and supporting landholder’s and communities throughout the state.  Your responsibilities include facilitating the adoption of the strategic plan, governance and legislation, resource allocation, program initiatives and policy development, all aimed at benefiting communities in NSW.

In your capacity as CEO, you will collaborate closely with the Chair and Board to formulate strategic plans and governance arrangements, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and values. You will represent LLS in key interactions with the Secretary, LLS Board and Chair, Minister, and across government, fostering a supportive environment of growth and innovation, ensuring sound strategy and informed decision making.

We are seeking a visionary leader with expertise in agriculture and natural resource management. Your ability to influence, inspire and empower others will be crucial in driving our organisation forward. With exceptional communication skills, you will build trust and foster collaboration with stakeholders effectively. Moreover, your demonstrated financial acumen will enable you to optimise resources utilisation for maximum impact, further solidifying your role as a strategic leader.  

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in agriculture, natural resource management, economics, business/finance.
  • Experience in a senior executive role within government or the corporate sector.

The Department is responsible for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources, and ensuring government investment in regional NSW, is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.

Local Land Services (LLS) was established in January 2014 to provide quality, customer focused services to landholders and the community across New South Wales. This regionally based organisation brings together a wide range of service and advisory functions including agriculture, biosecurity, natural resource management, land management, biodiversity, emergency services and private native forestry. Our team is there when it matters, on the ground helping landholders with knowledge, networks, and local experience.
