About the Role 

The Soil Conservation Service (SCS) are looking for a client focused Senior Project Officer – Team Leader with a passion for improving the natural environment to develop and support a diverse team in the delivery of environmentally challenging natural resource construction projects, asset maintenance programs & consultancy work for multiple clients within a competitive commercial environment. 

 

To do this you will: 

  • Lead a team of professionals with a focus on safety and quality to support operations within and across teams, allocating projects and ensuring workloads and staff capabilities are in line with projects demands. 
  • Promote, manage and market a successful commercial business in line with set revenue and profit targets. 
  • Identify client needs and pursue environmental projects to maintain a market share of work. 
  • Establish networks and develop effective partnerships to win commercial contracts in natural resource management and/or civil construction. 
  • Be responsible for the financial management of a business area with a $3M to $5M turnover, with projects ranging in size from $20k to $3M. 
  • Provide practical solutions to a diverse range of natural resource management issues and delivering beneficial outcomes to clients on a fee-for-service basis. 

 

About You 

To be successful our ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership, client and project management experience. Tertiary qualifications in Civil Construction, Environmental Management, Engineering, Natural Resource Management, and/or Project Management would be ideal, however proven industry experience is equally as valuable.  

 

Our ideal candidate will also have:  

  • Specialist knowledge and experience in assessment, design and implementation of natural resource management and/or civil construction techniques and practices. 
  • A high level of computer literacy, excellent verbal and written communication skills and understandings of relevant environmental principles and legislation.  
  • Proven experience managing and developing project teams within a similar commercial business environment and demonstrated experience successfully delivering relevant natural resource and/or civil construction projects 
  • Capability to roll up your sleeves and jump into hands on project management work when required 
  • A current NSW driver licence combined with the willingness and ability to travel across NSW (including occasional overnight stays) is also required.
