About the role

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on regional communities while building your experience and acquiring new skills from our expert team. You will have the chance to establish a rewarding career path and become a vital resource of information for landholders and stakeholders throughout Western NSW.

You'll play a key role in delivering animal health and biosecurity services, working closely with our District Vets. Your responsibilities will include participating in important animal biosecurity surveillance activities, implementing compliance procedures and extension for landholders and key stakeholders in the region.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Leadership qualities to contribute to the management of   animal health, welfare and biosecurity programs
  • An understanding of the needs and issues facing landholders, stakeholders and agriculture in general within the Western region
  • Strong communication skills to engage with landholders and collaborate with other partners.
  • Good collaborative skills to work closely in support of district vets and to work alongside other teams and business units to provide integrated customer service focused on advice and extension 
  • An understanding of legislated biosecurity obligations in NSW
  • A passion for agriculture in the Western region
  • Knowledge and understanding of animal biosecurity

Essential requirement for the role include:

  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or the ability to complete it)
  • Eligible to hold a NSW firearms license and a Statement of Attainment for humane animal destruction, and to be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act
  • A current NSW Class C Driver Licence and willingness to travel
