  • Full time ongoing role available
  • Location - Maitland preferred, however all DPIRD office locations will be considered.
  • Salary from $120K pa to $133K pa plus super

As a Senior Compliance Auditor with the NSW Resources Regulator, you will be responsible for implementing and supporting the Mining Act Inspectorate compliance audit program. You will lead compliance and mentor other staff on the audit process.

You must be willing to travel within NSW at short notice and will be expected to be away about one week a month. 

Audits will assess regulatory compliance against the Mining Act 1992 and will focus on audits of mining leases (large and small mines) and exploration licences. 

You will be required analyse industry practices and data and prepare comprehensive internal and external facing technical reports. You will make recommendations to industry and action non-compliances in accordance with the Regulator’s Compliance and Enforcement Approach.

We are seeking experienced auditors who:

  • Hold degree level qualifications in environmental or natural resources management (or similar) or have relevant experience with the Mining Act 1992.
  • Hold and maintain a current Class C drivers licence.
  • Are certified as an auditor with a relevant accreditation body or are otherwise eligible to hold such certification.
  • Can demonstrate knowledge in and the application of AS/NZS ISO 19011:2018 ‘Guidelines for auditing management systems’ and AS ISO 31000:2018 ‘Risk management - Guidelines’.

Things to know about the role:

  • Compliance with pre-employment probity screening is mandatory for all roles within NSW Resources.
  • Appointment will be subject to the satisfactory participation in a pre-employment health assessment.
