About the Role


The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are looking for two Team Leader Grants to join the Contracting, Grant Management and Compliance team to lead contracting, acquittal and/or compliance grants processes. You will lead the team in the development and implementation of policies, strategies and standards to deliver effective and targeted grants funding.

In this role, you will coordinate and facilitate best practice grants administration across a large suite of grant programs. As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of policies, processes and projects that support the efficient operation of the Grants Management Office.

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with program guidelines and governance standards as you provide specialist advice, recommendations and guidance to senior management on program performance and potential risks.

The role requires effective working relationships and networks to be established and maintained with other Government agencies and representatives of key industry stakeholders to ensure an integrated approach to managing grants.


To be successful you’ll ideally have:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and administering a diverse portfolio of government grant programs.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen complimented with knowledge of best practice contract and grants administration and the various existing and emerging legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in providing a flexible approach across the team to meet the needs of clients while balancing the responsible use of government funds.
  • Strong analytical, written/verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, including preparing informed and accurate briefings and correspondence to senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive tasks to completion, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively in team environments, whilst also able to take initiative, work autonomously and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Skills in problem solving and negotiation to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Experience in people management, including mentoring and team leadership.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Appropriate qualifications and/or experience in the public sector, professional services or finance
  • Knowledge of grant management system/s
  • Extensive experience in contract and/or grant management and compliance
  • Suitable people management experience
