Build and Mentor a Vibrant Team:
As a senior leader, you will provide people leadership that fosters workplace satisfaction, professional growth, and a healthy team culture. You will support the regional Leadership Team in delivering high-impact services to landholders and communities.
Landscapes & Extension Role – Strategic Planning & Advisory
- Oversee and deliver core objectives of the NSW Natural Resource Management and Agricultural Services Frameworks, Local Strategic Plans, and key LLS programs across:
Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Agricultural Extension – Providing guidance and resources to land managers.
Stakeholder and Community Engagement – Building strong relationships and fostering partnerships.
- Develop and implement long-term plans aligned with the NSW Frameworks for NRM and Agricultural Services and the Local Strategic Plan
- Foster innovation and best practices in land management and sustainability.
- Strengthen partnerships with landholders, industry bodies, and government agencies to drive policy and program success.
- Represent LLS and advocate for regional interests by engaging with industry groups, government agencies, and community organisations.
- Drive collaboration and ensure effective partnerships that align with policy and service delivery goals.
- Provide high-level strategic direction to enhance the region’s environmental, agricultural, and economic outcomes.
Governance, Risk, and Financial Management:
- Oversee statutory compliance, governance frameworks, and risk management plans.
- Manage project budgets of approximately $4 million annually, ensuring responsible resource allocation and financial accountability. Including reporting into various internal and externally funded projects.
- Ensure that financial and operational KPIs are met, aligning with organisational and funding objectives.
- Lead by example on managing risk and governance for a frontline NSW Government agency
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like:
- Lead and develop a high-performing teams;
- As a part of the Murray Management Team you will support Team Leaders in delivering projects and ensuring compliance with financial and operational KPIs.
- Actively engage with stakeholders and executive staff and board to drive policy and service improvements.
- Provide strategic leadership in emergency response and risk mitigation.
- Work closely with the General Manager and Leadership Team to align regional operations with state-wide objectives.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in agriculture, natural resource management, biosecurity, emergency management, or a related field.
- Strong leadership experience in managing people and services within primary industries, land management, or emergency response sectors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of biosecurity threats, land management practices, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of agriculture and NRM practices, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning including experience in working with community and agencies during emergency response coordination.
- High-level project management, design and development and financial management capabilities.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with a customer-focused approach.
- A current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel within the region.
