About the Role
The Senior Fisheries Manager leads the initiation and management of aquatic habitat rehabilitation projects, ensuring adherence to the Fisheries Management Act 1994. The role provides expert advice to a range of stakeholders, builds strategic partnerships, and works to enhance public awareness of aquatic ecosystem issues. The position leads the implementation of projects specifically related to fish passage, with a particular focus on the southern Murray-Darling Basin, including acting as the principal source of advice for the Department on technical fish passage aspects of projects.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in an environmental science or natural resource management discipline relevant to the management of aquatic environments
- Proven project management expertise, including budget and reporting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary fish habitat issues and extensive experience in the delivery of rehabilitation projects within the aquatic environment
- Excellent communication and advisory skills for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships.
- Experience in leading presentations and engaging stakeholders.
- Current drivers licence with capacity for frequent travel and flexible work hours.
