About the Role 

As a Senior Environmental Planner, you will provide high-level technical and strategic environmental advice across planning, assessment, and approvals. You will be guiding environmental initiatives within the delivery of transformative Masterplans and Delivery Plans for regional NSW. This is your opportunity to combine your environmental expertise with innovative thinking to influence meaningful and lasting change. 

Key responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Lead and advocate for strong environmental performance across projects and policies. 

  • Provide expert guidance on biodiversity, natural resource management, and environmental compliance. 

  • Advise on evolving environmental legislation, risks, and opportunities. 

  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams (infrastructure, commercial, sustainability) to embed practical environmental solutions. 

  • Manage consultants and review environmental studies and impact assessments. 

  • Shape environmental strategies to contribute to and support delivery of RGDC’s goals.

What We’re Looking For 

You bring a deep understanding of NSW planning and environmental legislation, complemented by a talent for turning environmental risks into practical, innovative opportunities through strong collaboration.  

With proven experience in advising or delivering infrastructure and regional development projects, you excel at navigating complex stakeholder relationships and influencing practical outcomes at all levels. Above all, you’re driven by a genuine passion for creating lasting, positive environmental change within regional communities. 

Essential Requirements 

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant industry experience in environmental planning, environmental science, biodiversity assessment, project management, or a related field. 

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence and the ability and willingness to travel within regional NSW when required.
